This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Butterfly pasta with sweet basil and sun dried tomatoes
                                                                                                                                                     
Pasta is the staple food of  traditional Italian cuisine. It is a good ingredient for putting together quick and delicious meal. Butterfly pasta resemble bow ties or butterflies. They are very smooth and easy on stomach.


Ingredients:
2 cups butterfly pasta
1 cup sun dried tomatoes
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup parmasan cheese
2 table spoon olive oil
1 chopped onion
5-6 garlic cloves
1 tea spoon black pepper
1 tea spoon red chili flakes
1 table spoon maida (All purpose flour)
1 cup milk
salt to taste

Preparation:
1. Boil pasta in enough water , drain and set aside
2. Soak the sun dried tomatoes in warm water for 10 minutes
3. Drain water and cut tomatoes into small pieces
4.  In a pan heat oil and add chopped onion and garlic. Saute till transparent.
5.. To this add the maida and mix well so that no lumps are formed
6. Add the milk and stir well.
7.  Add the sun dried tomatoes, pepper, salt, chili flakes and basil and mix well.
8. Add the cheese and mix well.
9. Now add the cooked butterfly pasta and mix well
10. Serve hot with garlic bread
