This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Mango Tokku



Mango Tokku
                                                                     
Mango Tokku is a very popular recipe. It tastes great with curd rice. It taste yummy when mixed with plain rice too. This pickle lasts for days if stored in a refrigerator.


Ingredients:
2 big raw, sour mangoes
6 table spoon red chili powder
1 tea spoon methi seeds
2 tea spoon mustard seeds
1/2 tea spoon hing powder
2 strands curry leaves
3 table spoon oil
Salt to taste

Preparation:
1. Wash, dry, peel and grate mangoes
2. Dry roast the mustard and methi seeds and powder.
3. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds and curry leaves.
4. When mustard splits add the grated mango and saute over a low flame till mangoes get well cooked.
5. Add the salt, powdered masala, hing, red chili powder and mix well.
6. Remove from the stove, cool and store in a air tight container.
