This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Sweet Potato Curry


Sweet Potato Curry
Sweet potatoes pack a powerful nutritional punch. The mild sweetness of the potatoes adds to the taste of the curry. Sweet potato curry goes well with rice, roti or naan.

Ingredients: (Serves three)

6 medium sized sweet potatoes
2 tea spoon red chili powder
1/4 tea spoon hing
1 tea spoon mustard
2 strands curry leaves
1/2 tea spoon haldi
1 table spoon kasoori methi
2 table spoon oil
Salt to taste

Preparation:
  1. Wash, peel and chop the sweet potatoes into small pieces
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard, curry leaves, hing and haldi
  3. When mustard splits add the chopped sweet potatoes
  4. Sprinkle 1/4 cup water, salt, red chili powder, cover and cook till sweet  potatoes are cooked (do not over cook the  sweet potatoes) 
  5. Add the kasoori methi, mix well and put off the flame
  6. Serve with rice, roti or naan
