This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Fruit and Yogurt Parfait
Protein packed Fruit and Yogurt Parfait can be had as a healthy breakfast or as a dessert. I used the healthy  juju dahu for the parfait. Juju dahu literally means "King of yogurt" in Newari. Juju dahu is made from a special breed of buffalo milk. It is a mildly sweet yogurt. No sugar is added for sweetness. The milk itself has a mild sweet taste. Spices like cloves, cardamom is added to the culture . This adds to the delicious taste of the yogurt.

Ingredients:
500 gms of juju dahu
2 cups of chopped assorted fruits (I added banana, pomegranate, kiwi, apple, strawberry and grapes)
1 table spoon honey
1/2 cup assorted chopped dry fruits
1 cup of museli
1 cup strawberry jam

Preparation: (serves 5)
  1. Chill the serving glass in the refrigerator
  2. Roast the chopped nuts till crunchy
  3. Mix the juju dahu with honey
  4. When ready to serve remove the glasses from the fridge and put one layer of muesli
  5. Over it put two table spoon of honey mixed juju dahu
  6. Put one layer of straw berry jam
  7. Next put one table spoon of assorted fruits
  8. Over this put another layer of juju dahu
  9. Finally sprinkle good amount of dry fruits
  10. Serve immediately
