Ammana adige mane in Kannada means mother's kitchen. This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Garlic Greens Chutney

Garlic Chives or garlic greens are in season now. Chutney made of garlic greens is an excellent accompaniment with rice and roti. Spread it on dosa when making masala dosa and keep licking your fingers!!

Ingredients:

1 cup fresh coconut
4 green chilies
1/2 cup chopped garlic greens
1/2 tea spoon cumin seeds
1 tea spoon tamarind
Salt to taste
1 tea spoon oil for tempering
1/2 tea spoon mustard
1 strand curry leaves

Preparation:
  1. Grind together coconut, chopped garlic greens, green chilies, tamarind, cumin seeds and salt to a coarse paste adding little water
  2. Heat oil in a tempering pan and mustard, and curry leaves.
  3. When mustard splits add the tempering to the ground chutney
  4. Serve with hot rice, roti or spread while making masala dosa
