Ammana adige mane in Kannada means mother's kitchen. This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Benne Chakkuli
Benne Chakkuli is a soft, crunchy South Indian snack. Chakkuli is made in many varieties. Benne Chakkuli is made with roasted chana, rice flour and butter. Enjoy this crunchy chakkuli  with a hot cup of coffee/ tea.
Ingredients:
4 cups rice flour
1 cup powdered Hurikadale(putnal)
1/2 spoon hing
1/2 cup butter (benne)
1 tea spoon red chili powder
1 tea spoon jeera
1 tea spoon til
Salt to taste
Oil for frying chakkuli
Preparation:
1. Combine rice flour, hurikadale flour, butter, salt, hing, til,red chili powder, jeera and mix well
2. Add water and knead a tight ,soft dough
3. Rest the flour for 15 minutes
4. Heat oil for frying chakkuli
5. Fill the  dough in chakkuli mould and press directly into the hot oil
6. Fry till golden brown and remove on the absorbent paper
7. Store in air tight container
