Ammana adige mane in Kannada means mother's kitchen. This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Karela Chips


Karela Chips
This yummy crunchy chips is an excellent accompaniment with any dal. It also tastes great when mixed with hot rice and ghee 

Ingredients: (For 4 people)
500 gm karela (Bitter Gourd)
2 strands curry leaves
1/4 tea spoon hing
1 tea spoon red chili powder
Oil for frying karela
Salt to taste
Preparation:
1. Wash karela and pat dry
2. Grate karela using chips grater into very thin slices
3. Heat oil in a pan and fry grated karelas till golden brown
4. Drain on an absorbent paper
5. In the same oil fry the curry leaves
6. Sprinkle red chili powder, salt and hing on the fried karela chips
7. Add the fried curry leaves and mix gently
8. Store in airtight containers
9. Remains crispand fresh for a week
