This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Mutter Paneer Pulao


                                                                         
Mutter Paneer Pulao
Pulao is a staple rice dish. The combination of fried paneer and mutter makes this pulao a real delicacy. Enjoy this dish with any raita and potato chips.

Ingredients: (Serves 4 people)
2 cups basmati rice
200 gms paneer
200 gms fresh green peas
2 red tomatoes chopped
2 onions chopped
1 tea spoon garlic paste
1 tea spoon ginger paste
1 tea spoon red chili powder
1 tea spoon garam masala powder
1 table spoon cashew
1/4 cup milk
1 table spoon fresh curd
1 spoon jeera
1 bay leaf
2 table spoon oil
Oil for frying paneer
Salt to taste
Preparation:
1.Wash and soak the rice for an hour
2. Make cashew paste by grinding cashew with milk
3. Finely chop onions and tomatoes
4. Heat oil in a pan and fry paneer till golden brown and set aside
5. Heat 2 table spoon oil in a pan and add jeera, bay leaf and stir till jeera splits
6. Add the chopped onions and fry for a minute.
7. Add tomatoes, ginger paste, garlic paste, salt and saute for a minute
8. Add peas, cashew paste, curd , chili powder, garam masala powder and mix well.
9. Add the soaked rice and mix well
10. Add 2 1/2 cup water and cook for three whistles
11. Add the fried paneer to the cooked pulao and mix gently
12. Serve hot with any raita and potato chips
