Ammana adige mane in Kannada means mother's kitchen. This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Aloo Poori
Aloo pooi is a popular Indian recipe . This is very easy to make and requires no side dish with it. Savor this delicious dish for breakfast or as tea time snack.

Ingredients:
2 cups wheat flour
2 boiled and mashed aloo
1 tea spoon red chili powder
1 tea spoon ajwain
1 tea spoon garam masala powder
1 table spoon finely chopped coriander leaves
salt to taste
1 table spoon oil
Oil for frying pooris

Preparation:
1. Mix flour, mashed aloo, red chili powder, garam masala powder, ajwain, coriander leaves, salt and oil and knead the dough adding little water to a stiff dough.
2. Rest the dough for 15 minutes
3. Take small ball size dough and roll into small pooris
4. Heat oil for frying poori
5. Slowly slide the poori, into the hot oil, pressing it lightly so it puffs up well. Fry on both sides.
6. Serve hot with a cup of hot coffee/Tea
