This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Red Capsicum Paneer Masala


                                            Red Capsicum Paneer Masala

The combination of paneer and  capsicum is sumptuous. The paneer capsicum masala is a mouth watering curry that goes very well with roti. The red capsicum adds to the flavour and colour of the dish

Ingredients:(serves four)

  1. 3 red capsicum
  2. 2 medium size tomatoes
  3. 1 "ginger
  4. 6 garlic pods
  5. 1 green chili
  6. 1/2 tea spoon fennel seeds
  7. 1 tea spoon jeera
  8. 1 spoon haldi
  9. 1 1/2 tea spoon red chili powder
  10. 1 tea spoon coriander powder
  11. 1 tea spoon jeera powder
  12. 1 tea spoon gram masala powder
  13. 1 tea spoon sugar
  14. 1 table spoon Kasuri methi
  15. 1/2 cup coriander leaves chopped
  16. Salt to taste
  17. 3 table spoon oil
  18. 1 cup cubed paneer

Preparation:
  1. Put the panner cubes in a microwaveable container , add water to soak the paneer and microwave for 8-10 minutes and set aside. This makes the paneer soft.
  2. Chop the capsicum into big pieces
  3. Chop onion finely
  4. Chop tomatoes finely
  5. Grate ginger and garlic
  6. Heat oil in a wok and add fennel seeds and jeera .
  7. When jeera splits add the grated ginger and garlic
  8. Sauté for a minute and add onion, salt  and sauté for two minutes
  9. Add the tomatoes,, slit green chili, haldi and sauté for a minute
  10. Add the capsicum and cook covered on slow flame.
  11. Sprinkle 1/4 cup water, cover and cook till capsicum is well cooked.
  12. Add coriander powder, jeera powder, chili powder, sugar and garam masala powder one by one  and mix well
  13. Add the paneer and mix well.
  14. Cover and cook for a minute till all the masala coats the paneer
  15. Add Kasuri methi and mix well
  16. Garnish with coriander leaves and put off the flame
  17. Serve with roti.
