Ammana adige mane in Kannada means mother's kitchen. This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Green Tomato Curry

                                                
Green Tomato Curry

Green tomato curry is a very spicy and tangy dish . It is a good accompaniment with hot rice or roti. The cooked green tomatoes has a lovely sourness to it.

Ingredients: (serves two)

6 medium size green firm tomatoes
1 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup finely chopped green garlic
1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
1 strand curry leaves
3-4 finely chopped green chilies
1 tea spoon mustard
1 tea spoon sugar
1/2 tea spoon haldi
Salt to taste
2 table spoon oil
Preparation:
  1. Cut tomatoes into four pieces
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard
  3. When mustard splits add haldi, curry leaves and green chilies
  4. Sauté a for a minute and add the chopped onions , salt and sauté till translucent
  5. Add the cut tomatoes, green garlic, sugar and sprinkle 1/4 cup water , cover and cook till tomatoes are well cooked
  6. Put off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves
