Ammana adige mane in Kannada means mother's kitchen. This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Avocado Soup

On a chill winter day nothing can be soothing as a bowl of hot soup. This is one soup you cannot go wrong. The subtle flavour of avocado  pairs well with any herbs and gives a creamy texture to the soup.

Ingredients: (serves two)

1 big size ripe avocado
3 garlic pods
1 green chilli
1 small onion
1 tea spoon pepper powder
1 table spoon fresh cream
Salt to taste

Preparation:
  1. Cut the avocado into two and scoop the pulp
  2. In a mixer grinders, grind together the avocado pulp, green chilli, garlic and onion to a fine paste
  3. Remove the ground mixture on to a pan add salt and pepper powder.
  4. Add enough water to bring it to soup consistency and give a quick boil
  5. Put off the flame and add the fresh cream and mix well
  6. Serve hot.
