Ammana adige mane in Kannada means mother's kitchen. This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Kothombari Soppina Tambuli



Kothombari Soppina Tambuli

Tambuli is a quick Udipi dish that goes very well with rice. It is very easy to make and requires minimum ingredients.

Ingredients:
1 cup packed finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
1 cup grated fresh coconut
2-3 green chilies
1 tea spoon jeera
1 cup sour curd
1 tea spoon ghee
Salt to taste
For Tadka:
1 tea spoon ghee
1 tea spoon mustard seeds
1 dry red chilli
 
Preparation:
  1. Wash and finely chop coriander leaves
  2. Lightly beat the curd with a spoon or a fork
  3. Heat 1 tea spoon ghee in a pan and add jeera
  4. When jeera turns light brown add slit green chilies, chopped coriander leaves and sauté for two minutes on a low flame
  5. Grind the sautéed mixture with fresh coconut adding water, to a fine paste
  6. Pour the ground mixture into a serving dish, add salt, curd and mix well
  7. Heat ghee in a tadka pan and add mustard seeds and broken red chilli
  8. When mustard splits add the tadka to the tambuli
  9. Serve with rice
