Palak with moong dal

           Palak with moong dal

A nutritious and favourful dal ideal for a quick evening meal. It is a perfect companion for hot rotis or rice.

Ingredients:
2 cups packed ,chopped  palak (spinach)
1/2 cup moong dal
3-4 green chillies
4 small garlic pods
1 big chopped onion
1" ginger
1 spoon haldi
1/2 spoon red chilli powder
1 table spoon oil
1 spoon jeera
1 strand curry leaves

Preparation :
1.  Soak moong dal for an hour and cook till done. Do not over cook  the moong  dal.
2.  Grind together green chillies, ginger and garlic to a fine paste.
3.  Finely chop onions
4.  Heat oil in a pan, add jeera, haldi, and curry leaves. When jeera splits add the ground paste and saute for a minute.
5.  Add the chopped onions and fry till transparent. Add salt when frying the onions. This will help cook the onions faster.
6. Next add the chopped palak and cook on a low flame till the palak wilts.
7.  Now add the cooked moong dal, and  red chilli powder and mix well.
8. Take off the heat and serve with hot rice or roti.
