This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Kaddu Ki Kheer


                                                        Kaddu Ki  Kheer                                                               
Kaddu Ki Kheer is a traditional Indian dessert. It is made by cooking together grated white pumkin or bottle gourd along with milk and sugar. 

Ingredients:
 1 litre milk
1 cup condensed milk
1 cup sugar
1 cup peeled grated bottle gourd/white pumpkin
1/2 cup basmati rice
 1 table spoon khova
1 table spoon chopped cashew
1 table spoon  chopped pista
1 table spoon chopped almond
1 tea spoon cardamom powder
1 tea spoon ghee

Preparation:
1. Roast all the three dry fruits in ghee and set aside
2. Boil milk and add basmati rice and cook till rice is done.
3. Add the grated bottle gourd /white pumkin and cook on a low flame till done.
4. Add the condensed milk, sugar and khova and mix well .
5. Add the roasted dry fruits and cardamom powder and put off the flame
6. Serve hot or chilled
