Ammana adige mane in Kannada means mother's kitchen. This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Sabudana Rotti

Sabudana or sago rotti is a delicious combination of sago, potatoes, rice flour, onion, green chilies and peanuts. Peanut powder and potatoes help in binding. Serve this delicious rotti for breakfast and see your family members asking for more !!!

Ingredients:
1 cup sago soaked overnight
1 cup rice flour
1/4 cup roasted and coarsely powdered peanuts
4-5 finely chopped green chilies
1 big boiled, peeled and mashed potato
2 medium size finely chopped onions
1 tea spoon jeera
1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
1 strand curry leaves finely chopped
Salt to taste
Oil for making rotti

Preparation:
1.In a bowl combine peanut powder, green chilies, mashed potatoes,chopped onions, jeera, coriander leaves, curry leaves, salt and mix well
2. Add the soaked sago, rice flour and mix well
3. Take a handful of this mixture and spread on the greased parchment paper /banana leaf
4. Heat a tawa and slowly transfer the rotti on to the tava
5. Smear oil , cover and cook on both sides till brown spots occur on the rotti
6. Serve hot with a dollop of ghee and coconut chutney
