Ammana adige mane in Kannada means mother's kitchen. This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

There is no substitute to home baked biscuit with a cup of hot tea. They are quick to bake and the aroma that engulfs the house while baking is simply addictive.

Ingredients (makes 30 biscuits)
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 cup Maida
1/2 tea spoon baking powder
1/2 cup vanilla flavour custard powder
3 tea spoon milk
1/2 tea spoon saffron (Kesar)
1 tea spoon finely chopped almonds
1 tea spoon finely chopped pasta

Preparation:
  1. Pre Heat Oven to 180 degrees
  2. Sieve Maida, custard powder and baking powder together
  3. Soak saffron in milk
  4. In a mixing bowl mix butter and powdered sugar till cream
  5. Add the sieved dry ingredients to sugar & butter mixture and mix well
  6. Add the saffron milk, dry fruits and mix well to form a smooth dough .(do not knead )
  7. Spread parchment paper on the baking tray
  8. Take lemon sized dough and lightly flatten it.
  9. Line the shaped dough on the baking tray and bake for 25 minutes
  10. Store in air tight container
