Ammana adige mane in Kannada means mother's kitchen. This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Peanut Rice



Peanut Rice

Peanut rice is a quick, easy, flavourful rice with minimum ingredients. It makes an excellent lunch box option. 

Ingredients:
2 cups cooked rice
1/2 cup peanuts
3 whole red chilli
1/2 tea spoon pepper
2 table spoon fresh grated coconut
2 strands curry leaves
1 tea spoon mustard seeds
1/2 spoon haldi
11/2 table spoon oil
Salt to taste

Preparation:
  1. Dry roast peanuts and grind it coarsely
  2. Heat 1/2 tea spoon oil and roast red chilies, pepper for a minute
  3. Grind the roasted chilies and pepper with coconut, finely without adding water
  4. Heat 1 table spoon oil in a pan , add mustard, curry leaves, haldi.
  5. When mustard splits add the ground masala and ground peanuts, salt and mix well
  6. Add the cooked rice and mix well.
  7. Serve hot
