This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Tomato Paneer Curry

                                           
Tomato Paneer Curry
Tomato, Paneer curry is a simple, great tasting dish that can be served with both rice and roti. It has the right balance of  tangy, sweet and spicy taste .

Ingredients:
6 medium size tomatoes
150 gm fresh paneer
2 medium size onion
2 table spoon copra
1 tea spoon coriander seeds
1 tea spoon jeera
7-8 red chilies
3-4 garlic pods
1 table spoon oil
1 tea spoon jeera
1 tea spoon chana dal
2 strands of curry leaves
1 tea spoon mustard
1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
1/2 spoon haldi
1 tea spoon sugar
Salt to taste

Preparation:
1. Cut tomatoes into big pieces
2. Finely chop onions
3. Cut paneer into small pieces
4. Grind copra, coriander seeds, jeera, red chilies and garlic to a fine paste adding little water
5. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard, curry leaves, chana dal and haldi
6. When mustard splits add the chopped onions , salt and saute till onion turns transparent
7. Add the  tomato pieces, sugar , cook covered till tomatoes are soft
8. Add the ground masala, paneer  and mix well
9. Cook covered on low flame for five minutes
10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves
