This blog is aimed at those who love to cook simple home made food with minimum available ingredients.The style of recipes in this blog will be mostly Dakshina Kannada (Vegetarian) home made food. However I intend to share recipes other than authentic Dakshina Kannada cooking which include cuisines from Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab...There is also something for those who like cuisine from across the sea.

Godhi Unnde (Wheat flour ladoo)

                              Ghodi Unnde (Wheat flour ladoo)


This is an easy and delicious recipe made with wheat flour and dry fruits. A perfect ladoo to be served on Janamashtami.

  Ghodi Unnde (Wheat flour ladoo):

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup finely chopped and roasted dry fruit mixture (1/4 cup each of almonds, cashews, walnuts, dry coconut)
  • 1 1/4 th cup ghee.(melted butter)
  • 1/2 teaspoon elachi powder (ground cardamom seeds)
  • A pinch of edible camphor

Preparation:
1. Put the wheat flour in a large frying pan and roast on a medium flame until the flour changes its colour to light brown
2. Now add the ghee and roast for another two minutes.
3. Lower the flame to low and add the powdered sugar, dry fruit mixture, elachi, camphor and mix well.
4. Remove the pan from the heat .
5. To make the ladoos, take about 2 table spoon of the prepared wheat flour ladoo mixture into your palm. Gently press the mixture between your palms to form a even , smooth ball. The ladoos are usually of a medium size lemon.
6. Leave the ladoos on a plate to cool to room temperature before putting into a covered container.The ladoos can be stored in an airtight container for 7-10 days.
